Snake Terrorizes Town
Tom: Paul Sholtie and I were fishing, and this snake, he was swimming across and passed right by our boat, and Paul, he got up on the boat and he was almost standing on the motor and he said “man, get that thing out of here!” The way I caught him, I had a string, and when his head was swimming along I put it on that and jerked it and had him by the neck.
We were going out fishing, so I said “well, let’s hang on to him.” He said “get that thing out of here!” He was still in the water. So we got offshore, probably four or five miles out fishing, and I cut him loose, and just let him swim where he wants to.
Next day the news in the paper: “Snake been spotted five miles off the shore!” [laughter] It made the news. Nobody ever knew how he got out there.
