Tom: Funny thing about East Lake — when I joined, there were some pine trees at the back of the range, and I’d hit my drive into those pine trees. So I didn’t go back there when I moved to the club up here for about ten years. So I went back out there for some event, and I’m hitting balls, and I’m coming up short of the trees.
And a fellow named Bill Lighter was right beside me, I said “Bill, you been a member out here a long time, when did they cut out some of those pines?” He said “what pines?” I said “those up in the back,” and he said “they haven’t cut any pines out.” I said “when I was out here I would hit balls into those pine trees!” He looked back and he said “Tom, that was ten years ago.” [laughter]
