Disaster Camping Trip
Tom: Well, we wanted to go camping. All the kids wanted to go camping. Martha wasn’t — she wasn’t a camper at all and she really just didn’t want to do it. I said “well, we’ll just put up the tent, and do it for one night and have fun.” So I was kind of insistent about it and she was negative about it, we had the three kids.
So we got up, I put the tent up, then I had a boat, I got out in the boat and I was fishing, she was sitting there trying to take care of three kids, one crying, one burned her finger, and everything was going wrong, but I was out in the boat. So when I got back in it was just a royal mess, and on top of that we got ready to go to bed and sleep, got a mat and everything out, and came on a hellacious rain. I had put the tent where, when the rain got to draining running down the bank it ran right into the tent. [chuckles] So all of a sudden we were in the tent and it was soaking wet, so the trip overall was a disaster.
Everything we had was soaking wet, and it was raining. [chuckles]
She never went on another one. [laughter] I never did press the point much either.
