Tom: Well, let’s say this: none of us know what’s ahead of you when you die, but I’ve got a lot of faith. And I don’t know how to word it, but I’m not afraid to die, I don’t have any fear of it at all. If I die tomorrow I wouldn’t want to, but it wouldn’t scare me.
Daniel: If you had to guess, would you say there’s life after death or no?
Tom: Nobody knows!
Daniel: But if you had to guess.
Tom: Well, I’d just have to say I don’t have a firm opinion, I don’t believe it firm either way.
Daniel: Just see what’s there when you get there, huh?
Tom: Yea. [laughter] If you put it on a — well, when you pass out for example. When you come to, you don’t know a thing about what happened. If you got knocked out you don’t remember a thing about it, so maybe when you die it’s the same thing. Whether there’s something in there I don’t know.
Daniel: No sense worrying about something you don’t know about?
Tom: Nuh-uh! [laughter]
I heard a story about this fellow who was at the doctor, and he said “Doc, I know I’m going to die, what’s on the other side?” He said “well, I just don’t know.” About that time a puppy dog squished the door open, came running in and saw the doctor, he jumped up in his lap, and he held on to him, that dog just leaned on him, and he said “now this is what I think. You see this dog, he came through the door and he saw his master, and he’s got my arms around him, he’s just as content as he can be. That’s what I think is going to happen when you die. The wings of your master are going to just surround you, and you’ll have peace, quietness, and serenity from there until eternity.” Now, that’s one story. No pain, no hurt, no anxiety, no nothing, just peace.
Daniel: Let me know when you find out.
Tom: [laughter] I’ll call back and tell you.
